'His or 'Her' dogs.... Empty 'His or 'Her' dogs....

Post by Jamesp Wed Apr 14, 2010 10:32 pm

When the wife has a dog and the husband and they very much view only one of the dogs as 'theirs' it can be a recipe for disaster....

In my view it can create two separate 'packs' and the dogs will pick up on negative things like....."look what 'your' dog just did" or other family arguments that bring in the dogs behaviour in such a way as scoring points in an argument.....or even viewing the other half's dog as a bad sort in the heat of the moment in an argument.....etc

This negative environment can cause the dogs to fight (sometimes badly) and to bite or turn on the human that views them as being 'owned' by the other half.....

I believe dogs need and want to live in a stable and balanced environment, with ALL the family members being consistent with them, once humans accept this and change often that is all that is required to see a change for the good in the dog as well and in a way dogs have taught the humans to be balanced and keep them balanced......
