Rotty in my garden at 3.00am...!!!
This was a while ago............
I helped out the police one night when I was woken at 3.00am in the morning to find 4 police officers had cornered a stray Rotty in my garden, I rushed out there to tell them to back off as the Rotty or any animal may attack if cornered and knowing the police their answer would have been to shoot the dog and I wanted to save it from that, I persuaded them to back off and let me deal with it, i could tell the Rotty meant no harm and was just insecure and frightened, I also knew that this could mean an attack if I made a wrong move, so I just stood there about 8 feet away, offered no eye contact and just remained calm hoping that the Rotty would pick up that in my energy and scent, in just 1 minute the Rotty stopped barking and was a lot calmer, 20 minutes later we were still there, the Rottys fear still outwayed his inquisitive nature as I believe all dogs are inquisitive by their nature, as normally a dog would have come and sniffed me by now, so I turned my back on the Rotty to be even less of a threat, I wouldnt have done this with a confident dog as that could mean I could be attacked, anyway, after 2 hours the dog came to me, sniffed me and just sat there in a calm submissive pose, I put the lead on him and and instructed the police to give no eye contact, no sound and no to touch and let the dog sniff them, they did that and I handed the dog to them no problem and he was returned to his owner the next day.
Now, was this luck or fate?...did the rotty pick up on something and thats why he ran into my garden.......
