One thing I learnt from Shaun Ellis was that when a dog sighs or yawns it is often a sign of social bonding, it means they are relaxed around you.

When relaxing on the sofa in the evening we will sigh or yawn and often our dog will follow suit a few moments later, or he may sigh or yawn on his own.

I think its a good idea to help to bond with a new dog or a nervous type to do long deep sighs or yawns to help the bonding process, they have to be 'genuine' though and not faked to work.

These people seem to have a different view of it.....
