Thats the head gardener by the way: she likes to dig up the onions, usually just after they've been planted. Razz

Today I put in some more spuds (maris pipers), some onion sets (red baron), sowed some lettuce seed (little gem, and mixed varieties), and carrots (early nantes and valiant).

Well, we had to buy her a forest to stop her rounding up the local farmers when out on a walk (no kidding) Laughing

That's amazing. Where's your forest?

We only have a gravel covered courtyard at the moment but we are 2 metres from a beach! When we move in July def going to be out in my big old garden (well not as big as wolfdog's)!

What could I grow in pots? Was thinking of some herb pots maybe?!

They're lovely james, are they primulas? Im really not great with gardening yet. Love how they're growin in gravel (as if to say gravel is no excuse)! I dont think they'd survive farans big old paws though. I once bought a beautiful japanese acer, which he thought was an excellent toy. He drag it all round the garden , until my neighbour spotted him and let me know. Since then no plants!

There is loads you can grow in pots if you mean stuff to eat...

Herbs, lettuce, carrots, onion sets (pick em young for spring onions), radish....all of which you can plant out now if in midlands or south of UK...

Carrots like sand so mix some in with the compost....

Later in the year (beg June) you can plant out tomatoes, cucumbers in pots as well, with some feed (like tomatorite) they do well in pots....if you have a south facing aspect....

Thanks, yep they are primrose, planted one a few years ago and they just naturally spread, they are good value as they flower depending on the conditions from Feb / March to May / June....and require no dead heading or any maintenance at all....

Their pretty tough fellows and may well even survive faran!.. Very Happy

James, Is it time to plant bulbs yet? You might get a good crop of 150w pearls in time for next year (I hear they don't last as well as these new long life ones)- sorry couldn't resist that one clown

Got a crop of 150w pearls growing as we speak....they are suffering from an almighty pest....the Latin term is gordius brownitis....however there are rumours that this pest will be destroyed on May the 6th this year and replaced with a clone pest called davidus camerous which is a clone of tonyis bliaritis...... Very Happy

Thats the trouble with pests; just when you think you find a way of getting rid of them they mutate, become highly resistant and plague you twice as much!
